Our Wood
Our rabbit hutches and guinea pig hutches are made from high quality Fir Trees (Cunninghamia lanceolata). We have chosen this wood as it is free from rough edges, and splinters. The Wood is pre-treated with animal friendly wood preserve. The wood is durable, and is resistant to insects, wood worm and rotting. What do we mean by ‘fox resistant’ wire?
We call the wire on our hutches ‘fox resistant’ as the wire we use is stronger than most wire used on most hutches. The wire is inlayed into the wood rather than stapled on (like chicken wire), which means its less likely to be ripped out. The wire is strong enough that it should prevent a fox from gaining access to your hutch, but a determined fox may always find a way in so always take extra precautions to protect your pets. We recommend putting the hutch into a larger run, or having a run attached as an extra layer of defence if you are concerned about Mr Fox. Make all the necessary steps to keep a fox out of your garden and reinforce your hutch if foxes are a problem in your area.
